He finds that adaptability is key, saying, “Working on high-priority issues means you have to be ready whenever they arise.”

Victor's career began with a Nautical Science degree from the Marine Institute, building on early experience with the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets. His background in math and physics helped him in technical studies, while French immersion aided communication during his global travels. After advancing through various ranks onboard, he now supports fleet operations from a senior onshore position. He advises aspiring mariners to focus on growth, as “opportunities in this field are endless.”

Victor’s days vary with location. Onshore, he has set hours, while offshore, shifts adjust based on need.
